Our Story

The year was 2013 when Ian & Lisa met in an closed down, refurbished Inn, in mid Cornwall. 

It was here where they discussed their shared idea of one day running a pub. After several years of what ifs, buts and maybes & with a much wider skill set at their disposal, the journey began. 

In 2023 they finally took the plunge and applied for a St Austell brewery pub. Unfortunately their first application was unsuccessful! However this was potentially a blessing in disguise, as later that year the opportunity to take over the Chatham was on the horizon.  

After several months of negotiating, planning, laughing and crying, the stage was set! 

April 2nd 2024 will forever be remembered in this family's history as the day the journey began. 

A community first, traditional local pub for one and all. 

This isn't a marketing slogan, this is our core value and belief!

Pubs are no longer dark and dingy boozers, for one specific type of people. 

Pubs need to be social hubs where people from all walks of life can feel safe to come and enjoy a good book over a glass of wine, a hot chocolate with friends next to the fire or a nice, cold and refreshing pint at the end of a long day with your mates. 

The aim of Ian & Lisa and the team is to create a home from home atmosphere where you are invited in to relax and unwind. Offering a multitude of events to encourage everyone to visit their local and breath new life into these old walls.
